Take it or leave it — one of the only ways you’ll achieve your dreams is if you make a few mistakes. Whether that means getting fired from a not-so-great job, burning bridges, or simply forgetting to trust your gut, these deadly career mistakes are there to help you see the bigger picture so you can truly figure out what you want out of life. For instance, today’s Boss Babe always knew she wanted to be a fashion designer, but she wanted to learn the craft from scratch so she too can learn from her mistakes. And because she didn’t take the easy way out or expected anyone else to do it for her, she’s now one of the most influential babes in town.

Mery Racauchi is an Argentinan-born Boss Babe who has a love affair with style and color. Growing up, surrounded by constant love and support from her family, she persisted in making her dream come true by creating clothes for her dolls, and eventually, moving to America. With an Instagram following of over 300k, this fashion designer is a style maven who easily stands out from the crowd with her Barbie-approved locks and out-of-this-world style. Oh yeah, and she has a pretty bad ass self-titled fashion brand, too. Meet the most colorful designer you’ll ever meet, Mery Racauchi.

Tell us a little about yourself and how you knew modeling and fashion were going to become your career?

Ever since I was around six years old, I always made clothes for my Barbie dolls and I always knew I wanted to be a designer. I knew I wanted to be a model, too, but that’s newer for me because I started modeling more recently. I studied fashion design and styling, I always wanted to do anything and everything related to fashion.

We love your pink hair! Tell us your secret on how you maintain the Barbie-approved hue all year round?

Having pink hair is a lot of work — it washes out easily and is a mix of pink tones, so it’s a lot of maintenance. My friends at Pierre Michel Salon help me out a lot when it comes to my hair.

When you began to create your fashion collection, you started by making your clothes by hand. Why did you feel like this was an important step to help launch your designs and career?

I think it’s important to know how to do every step in the process. If you don’t know how to do it, you can’t expect someone else to do it for you. It’s also easy and cool to try things at home, you can always learn from your mistakes.

Best way to boost your mood when you’re having a bad day?

Eating sugar is the best boost for my mood. There’s nothing a slice of cheesecake can’t fix.

As someone who was born in Argentina, you probably were surrounded by endless amounts of culture. How do you feel like your childhood experience has influenced your life and career?

I think being from Argentina has taught me how important having the support of my family is. They always supported me with my dreams of becoming a fashion designer even though it is a tough market in Argentina. They always believed in me.

Your style is amazing! Where do you draw inspiration when it comes to your own sartorial look?

I always think about what would look amazing in photos and what would catch people’s attention. I wear clothes that I consider art. My personal stylist, Molly Peters, helps me a lot. She understands my style perfectly so we do a lot of cool looks together. I love edgy high-end brands mixed with cool vintage pieces. I also love high-tight boots and anything velvet. Pink is my favorite color (of course). I think colors and textures are super important.

If you could have a drink with anyone, dead or alive, who and what would it be?

It would be with Ringo, my husband, I love doing everything with him, he will order my favorite drink before I ask for it. There’s nothing like feeling comfortable with your family.

Not only are you a fashion designer, but you’re also a model. Would you ever like to blend those two worlds together in the near future?

Yes, that’s what I want the most, I love modeling and I want to work for other brands. Fashion is amazing in all aspects.

Where do you hope to see yourself in the next five years?

I hope to see myself in a pink shoe-shaped house with Ringo and my dogs.

Any advice for future boss babes, especially those looking to get into the model and fashion world?

To be consistent, never give up, and always do what you want but never stopping; consistency is key.
